Robbie Bach joined Microsoft in 1988 and over the next 22 years worked in various marketing, general management, and business leadership roles. Beginning in 1999, as Chief Xbox Officer, he led the creation and development of the highly successful Xbox video game business. Now in his new role as a Civic Engineer, Robbie believes we all have a responsibility to engage on civic issues and dedicates his time and energy to providing strategies, creative ideas, and consulting to organizations that are driving positive change in our communities. He speaks to corporate, academic, and civic groups across the country and in 2015 completed his first book, Xbox Revisited: A Game Plan for Corporate and Civic Renewal.
The May 14, 2017, Political Science Graduation Ceremony in Memorial Hall will begin at 1:00 p.m. All undergraduate political science students who have petitioned to graduate are encouraged to attend the departmental ceremony, where they will be individually recognized and celebrated by family and friends, faculty, and fellow graduates. Students attending the departmental ceremony will receive 6 tickets for guests. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for guest seating. Professional photographers will photograph each student as he or she is recognized on stage, and students will have the option to purchase photographs. A reception will follow the ceremony, weather permitting. The ceremony and reception will conclude at 3:00 p.m.
The departmental ceremony follows the University Commencement, which takes place earlier in the day at Kenan Stadium, for which tickets are not required.
