Dear Friends and Alumni,

On behalf of the Department of Political Science, I welcome you to read our annual newsletter. As the calendar year draws to a close, we reflect on a year full of challenges and highlights. In the midst of it all, our students, faculty, and staff continued to do what we do best: teaching and serving our community while crafting world-leading research.

We enthusiastically met our strategic goals to deepen the research experience for undergraduate and graduate students, to create and share high-impact research, and to recruit the very best faculty in the world. In this year’s newsletter you will meet two new faculty, Ted Enamorado and Suzanne Globetti, and help us congratulate Virginia Gray and Mike Lienesch on their retirements.  We also celebrate amazing accomplishments by our faculty and students, and reflect on a wonderful commencement ceremony.

We strive to be the best Political Science department in the nation. We do so by continually investing in teaching and scholarship. We rely on your support to help meet these high expectations. If you would like to make a gift to help out, you may do so securely online or visit the department’s giving page for details on making a gift by mail.

Thank you for your support, and Go Heels!

Mark J.C. Crescenzi, Professor and Chair, Department of Political Science
